Panama Boquete Floreal
Panama’s coffee arrived with European immigrants in the 19th century, about 50 years after the country achieved its independence from Spain, but as an agricultural product it didn’t gain a real foothold until arguably the last 20 years. In contemporary Panama, coffee is primarily produced by smallholders from two main indigenous groups—the Bugle and Ngobe people—as well as mid- and large-scale estates owned privately, often by European or North American immigrants or their descendants.
Cupping Notes: "A great well balanced cup of coffee. Low acidity, floral notes with plenty of sweetness balanced with a very smooth malty chocolate tone. Medium bodied, smooth, rich and very clean."
Roast: Medium Dark Region: Boquete, Chinqui Variety: Catuai, Typica Process: Washed Altitude: 1500-1700 masl
Boquete is located within the Chiriqui region to the west, near the border of Costa Rica. The lot is hand picked from Catuai, Caturra and Typica trees grown in mineral-rich volcanic soil. Due to the high altitude it earns an additional SHB (Strictly Hard Bean) classification.
Note: The 8oz size comes in a resealable kraft stand up pouch (as seen pictured) while all other sizes come in a brown kraft bag with reclosable tin tie.
